I always knew I wanted to be an artist. At first, I wanted to be a comic book artist but after having everyone correct my spelling anytime I showed them my work I shifted to almost exclusively character designing. I created a handful of characters and started drawing them constantly, creating relationship dynamics between the characters and minor world-building. But primarily it was about the aesthetic, if I liked the character design I drew it over and over again. Characters (usually) need a background so that helped me start illustrating. This also further helped my character writing, deciding on hobbies and interests that I could draw them doing. I knew I wanted to share my character's stories, and illustrations wouldn't cover it. So I went back to the idea of comics/graphic novels, but it never felt like it was meant to be my medium of storytelling.

When I started doing digital art I downloaded a few free animation apps, and like most things I do, I was very bad at first. I played around with animation but I focused more on learning how to draw and creating an animation-friendly style, and a cast of characters I loved. It took until my senior year of high school to start learning how to make frame-by-frame animations in Procreate and by the time I was in college I was learning the basics.
